In math, we are working closely with time. Children must master time to the hour and half hour. We are practicing: making clocks, reading analog and digital, understanding the amount of time certain activities may take, and much more.

Spelling
To prepare students for second grade, the spelling list has increased to 15 words. This weeks focus is on "sh" and "ch." We will continue to work on sight words to ensure mastery. Please practice at home, as we will be practicing in school.

A little bit about Ms. Bayt
I was born and raised in Indianapolis, where I attended St. Luke Catholic School. I went on to continue my Catholic education at Brebeuf Jesuit. At Indiana University, I studied elementary education and received a Bachelor’s Degree and my Indiana State License for elementary education. I also earned 12 credit hours towards a master’s degree, for joining the Cultural Immersion Program. This program allowed me to study the English culture intensely then teach abroad in a small town outside of London for nine weeks. Upon completing this project, I taught at Orchard Park Elementary working with a wide variety of children. This past summer, I worked at Primrose at Gray Eagle teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten.
I am excited to join the St. Joan of Arc family and feel honored to be a part of this growing community. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
